"Web based gateway to access ESOL within Greater Manchester. Local authorities in Manchester, Salford, Rochdale, Bury, Trafford, Oldham and Tameside are working in partnership to help people join suitable ESOL courses in their local area. You will need to complete a short application. We will then contact you to arrange an assessment for an ESOL class in your local area. If you wish to join an ESOL class but you are not able to complete an online application, you will need to make an appointment to have an assessment in your local area. Watch the video which explains the assessment at an ESOL Advice session. We follow the same process in Manchester, Rochdale, Salford, Bury, Tameside, Oldham, Trafford and Stockport. You only need ONE assessment for any of the ESOL courses in these areas of Greater Manchester. A teacher will ask you a few questions about yourself, where and when you can study and may ask you to read and write a little if you can. This will help us decide which class is good for you. You will need 30 minutes to do the assessment. You can bring a friend or a family member with you for support if you wish. We don’t currently have an ESOL Hub in Bolton or Wigan. You can still have an assessment if you are happy to study online or outside your local area where we might be able to offer you a course. Site also has online modules you can study at home. It also has links ot organisations that can assist with digital inclusion."
