Culture Bridge

"Established in 2018, Culture Bridge is a CIC Limited community group facilitating a dialogue of communication and trust between cultures and the advancement of education of the public. We aim to push our limits through ideas and creations. Since 2018, Culture Bridge’s successfully managed to run 3 regular art and culture workshops:   Refugee Connect, Women art and culture, and Children Art & Culture. We recently established the Kurdish school, “Nishtiman”. We believe we can build our community together, through sharing our art and cultural talents and experiences. Most of our volunteers are lived experience migrants and refugee artists and musicians from Iran, Iraq and Kurdistan"

"• Arts and crafts workshops - Knitting, crochet, drawing, music workshops, using our volunteers to run activities and visiting workshop practitioners. • Play activities - these run every session, staffed by volunteers. • English Language activities We have 3 ESOL classes (Beginners, Intermediate and Advance levels) run for small groups, 15-20 at a time, with simple nouns and verbs in written English, but the focus would be on informal learning and English language practice on common topics. Ideally, this is for asylum seekers who remain in Stockport for 6 weeks of sessions. • The sessions are including tea and biscuits conversation, encouragement for those attending to speak about something they enjoy and to ask questions about this, in English. • We provide middle eastern hot meals on the day where we usually have 50-80 guests attending the sessions on Weds • We support with interpreting and translations for the families when they need help. • Supporting the vulnerable people to gain the medical support needed as soon as possible. • Organising several art creativities workshops for the adults and children. • Organising Football and other games for children with the support of the Stockport County Football club on Wednesdays. As of September 2022, our current activities are as follows: • Monday Walking group. We organise special events; picnics, and days out for refugees and asylum seekers, giving them a break from the challenges of daily lives. • Tuesdays: Culture Bridge-Stockport CAN project.
