Bristol Refugee Rights

We run services for asylum seekers and new refugees to get the help they need. Our Drop-in is an access point to all our services and many more around the city, as well as a social space with a focus on well-being. Our advice service specialised in asylum claims, asylum support, including housing issues and preventing homelessness and destitution. Our outreach workers visit IA accommodation to support residents. We run a range of ESOL classes and workshops on understanding the asylum system and life in the UK.

Our Young People's project supports young people seeking asylum and those caring for young migrants. Our Pride Without Borders project supports LGBTQIA+ asylum seekers and refugees with a social space and specialist advice. Project CLEAR provides specialist casework for asylum seekers with multiple, complex needs. We use early action to avoid crises. This includes empowering our members to take action for themselves, building skills and confidence.

Pride Without Borders

Last updated 26/11/24

Pride Without Borders is our support group for Bristol-based LGBTQ+ people seeking asylum and those with refugee status. We meet every 2 weeks and spend time together. We support and listen to each other and enjoy celebrating our identities and cultures together. We sometimes go to fun nights out and events.

We aim to connect with Bristol’s great LGBTQ+ community. The manager and our great team of volunteers can give you support and advice so you can stay safe and get what you need. This includes help understanding the asylum system, accessing housing and finance, supporting you if your housing is not safe or you are at risk of homelessness.

LGBTQ+ people aged 13 to 25 could join another group called Freedom Youth. You don’t have to be an asylum seeker or refugee.
