Refugee Mental Health In-reach Service for GM Hotels

Last updated 23/09/24

Our NHS funded first-language mental health service is designed to support refugees and asylum-seekers in temporary hotel accommodation in Greater Manchester. We understand that refugees may experience various mental health challenges due to the stressful and traumatic experiences they have encountered in their home countries and during their journey to seek asylum. Our service is designed to provide a safe and confidential space for refugees to express their concerns, receive counselling, and access mental health resources. Our team of mental health professionals and multilingual community leaders is trained to work with refugees from diverse cultural backgrounds and understand the unique challenges that they may face. We provide a range of services, including individual counselling, group therapy, and psychoeducation sessions to address mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and adjustment difficulties. We also provide referrals to mainstream mental health services if needed. Our services are offered in a non-judgmental, supportive, and respectful manner, taking into consideration the cultural and linguistic needs of service users. We are committed to providing accessible mental health care to refugees and asylum-seekers in GM hotels, and we work closely with hotel staff, NHS colleagues and other organisations to ensure that our services are easily accessible and culturally sensitive.
