The Destitution Project - Bolton
Bolton Disabled People’s Group (Bolton DPG) is a charity that supports disabled individuals in Bolton. Their aim is to empower people with disabilities to have a voice and access the services they need for a better quality of life.
The group works with various clients, including those with physical disabilities, learning difficulties, and mental health challenges. They provide information, advice, and advocacy services to help individuals navigate local services, benefits, and support systems. For example, they might assist someone in applying for disability benefits or finding accessible housing.
Referrals to Bolton DPG can come from healthcare professionals, social services, or individuals seeking help directly. They also collaborate with other local organisations to ensure comprehensive support for their clients.
In addition to one-to-one support, Bolton DPG runs activities and workshops that promote social inclusion and personal development. This might include skills training, health and wellbeing sessions, or social events that bring people together.
Bolton DPG provide a service for asylum seekers, destitute asylum seekers and refugees/adults. Wednesdays and Fridays are face to face casework sessions via an appointment only.
Free vegetarian hot meals for lunch, tea, coffee and biscuits are served throughout the day. We have activities, art session, English classes. We have a clothes room and a food bank for our destitute asylum seekers however we are currently providing a food parcels for asylum seekers too at the moment.
