Manchester Refugee Support Network - Activities and Classes

"MRSN run a programme of activities, groups and classes. Current projects are listed as follows: Shared Routes is our ‘Peer Navigator’ programme, promoting the skills and attributes from within refugee and asylum seeker communities across Manchester, Tameside and Salford. It aims at training people from migrant background who want to become more engaged in community work. The training will prepare people to become ‘community peer navigators’ and help them to develop their skills and knowledge. Our training follows an asset-based development approach that means we focus on developing people’s strengths. Next to the training we support our ‘peer navigators’ into volunteer placements at a local organisation of their choice where they can put what they have learnt into practice, gain new valuable experiences and built networks. Training and volunteering provide people with more options for their personal and professional development as well as their local engagement and connections. The MRSN Health and Well-being project is set up to provide support to this marginalised and vulnerable group. In light of this, it's important people have chance to gather together and take part in a sport together. Once a week, people meet to play football together. GREAT (Greater Manchester Refugees and Asylum Seekers Together) is our expert by experience forum.
