Renew Stockport / Loaves and Fishes - Stockport
This project started in 2013 when Pioneer Minister Ed Leavy believed God was calling him to start a ministry for the homeless of Stockport.
After being told there were no homeless in Stockport by officials, Ed & his team set up a soup kitchen style operation in an empty car park in the middle of Stockport.
The first week 5 people turned up, the following week 50 & these numbers continued to grow until we were offered to set up our operation in several different locations eventually outgrowing all of them due to demand.
Services include:
• We distribute: Clothes, bedding, tents, sleeping bags & emergency food parcels when needed
• We provide: Advocacy and advice for refugees and asylum seekers in Stockport
• We help: We work with local statutory and voluntary organisations to help the homeless into accommodation
• We partner: We work with other charities to provide mental health support and skill building activities
