Community Workers

Our bilingual Community workers welcome, register and be-friend with new women using the service, providing information, guidance and practical support regarding the different activities at the drop-in (including crèche, English classes, arts and crafts etc, training courses). They carry out in-depth needs assessments to identify each woman’s individual needs. Our community workers provide interpretation support on a 1-1 basis and for group workshops and talks. We ensure that all our written information is translated or communicated verbally for those who are illiterate in their first language. Our Community workers currently translate and interpret in three languages; Somali, Chinese and Arabic. We also have volunteer community workers who speak a range of languages.

Our services are available to registered members* only and take place in our weekly Tuesdays, term-time only drop-in centre. All pre-school children are welcome.

*Women and female-identifying only.
